1The Beach is Steps Away

I am going to explain my favourite ways to go to the beach. It depends on the mood and what I want to do.

  • If I want to party and have some drinks – I go to Mamitas Beach Club which is by far the most popular beach club in Playa del Carmen. To get there walk 200 meters to the beach and then turn right, walk until you get there (3 minutes more). I usually go to the entrance of the restaurant and ask the manager for a beach bed.
  • If I want to relax and have some drinks – Walk the same 200 meteres to get to the beach and then turn left. Walk 2 minutes more and arrive to Diablito cha Cha Cha (before Cannibal Royal). This beach club has an amazing ambiance. You can relax while listening to the lounge music and watching the turquoise-blue ocean.
  • If I want to go to the beach and be isolated – There are some days when I just want to be away from everybody. I usually do not stay in this part of the beach but I love walking through it. To get there just walk the same 200 meters to the beach and then turn left. Keep going for about 5 minutes and you will find yourself on a beach with no developments and not many pleople.

Technology today is so amazing. If you want to walk around use the embedded map.

The Restaurants Let’s Go to Eat!

Google Maps way to El Pirata

Years ago, when Playa del Carmen was not a popular turistic place, El Pirata was one of the best fishmarkets in town. A trunk with the fishes of the day (really fished on the same day) came every morning full of caribean delights. El Pirata then became a restaurant.

There are no reservations, this place can be completely crowded by locals and turists. My advice is to go early (before 13:00). You can always just go and buy all the seafood you want and take it back home and have it on the terrace or the rooftop (I do this oftenly). The service is not the best and there is no air conditionair. If you go to El Pirata is because you want to eat the best and fresher seafood you can get in Playa del Carmen. El Pirata is not a pretentious place. The ceviche of shrimp or Ceviche Mixto are my favourites.

Google Maps screen shot closeness to la cueva del chango.

This is my favourite place to go for breakfast. La Cueva del Chango serves delicous mexican food with a local touch in a beautiful ambiance. If you go for breakfast always ask for the juice of the day. Normally is a combination of Mango, Strawberry, Pineapples and other delicous fruits from paradise.

Google Maps way to Chez Celine

Chez Celine is a french bakery and café founded by two french chefs and entrepeneurs. The menú and the food are delicious: crepes, quiche, icecreams, sandwiches fruit pies, etc… I like to go there when I want to relax and have something sweet. There is a happy hour around 5 pm where you can have a Carajillo (an alcoholic drink with cafe) and all alcoholoc drinks half price. If you like bread go there to buy a white baggette they are suberb.

Google Maps way to Las Hijas de la Tostada

I like to go after 5:00 pm and get a small mountain of delicious seafood over my tostada for. They are simply delicious. I love to have them with a cold beer or michelada.

There are many more restaurants and nice places in La Quinta. These are my favorites and they have been in town for some years now. All the time new places are opening so do not be afraid to explore.

Shopping for Groceries and Medicine

6La Mega and Wal-Mart

Google Maps way to La Mega

La Mega is a big super market like Wal-Mart. There is also a Wal-Mart two blocks away from La Mega in Playa del Carmen.

I usually go walking and do a big shopping. Then I take a cab back because I have many stuff. You can also buy medicine in La Mega and Wal-Mart at lower prices than in the drug stores of La Quinta.

7El Campeon, 7-Eleven and Oxxo

El Campeon is a small grocery store where you can buy basic stuff. It is a 4 minutes walk and in front of “Las Hijas de la Tostada” (see map above).

7-Eleven is also next to Las Hijas de la Tostada and there is also in CTM street next to the apartment.

There is one oxxo on CTM street with Calle 10 and also another next to the beach in Calle 38.

I think that with this information you have a better picture of the localization of Menesse on the Beach. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
